1. Who we are
AskVid ("we", "us") operates askvid.site, a service that transcribes YouTube videos and lets you ask questions about their content. Contact us at contact@askvid.site.
2. Information we collect
When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, and profile picture. We also log the IP address used at account creation for abuse prevention. For guest users we store only your IP alongside usage counters.
3. How we use your information
- To operate your account and track plan limits.
- To detect and prevent abuse (e.g. multiple free accounts from the same IP).
- To process payments via DodoPayments — we never store card numbers.
- To contact you about your account or service changes.
4. Transcripts and chat history
Video transcripts are cached server-side to improve performance. Chat history lives in your session only and is cleared when you sign out. We do not read or sell your questions.
5. Third-party services
We use Google OAuth for authentication, DeepSeek for AI responses, and DodoPayments for billing. Each operates under its own privacy policy.
6. Data retention
Account data is kept for as long as your account is active. Request deletion by emailing us — we'll action it within 30 days.
7. Cookies
We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
8. Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting contact@askvid.site.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the site.
